What a turn-up

Transport Scotland

Planning for open day success

How do you persuade top-quality graduate engineers to come to a careers open day? That's the challenge our client, Transport Scotland, set us.

The first job was to provide an incentive. Luckily, Transport Scotland had one that was eye-wateringly huge. They're investing £3 billion in Scotland's roads and railways - something any budding civil engineer should want to learn more about.

Next, we had to give our message maximum exposure. We advertised on graduate websites, such as gradcracker, prospects and milkround. We mailed posters to all the Scottish universities. We had adbikes and leafleters placed strategically around Edinburgh and Glasgow.

After that, it was a case of wait and see. We didn't have to wait long. More than 40 graduates hurried their way to the venue on the day, with the majority of them staying for over half an hour to talk to Transport Scotland representatives.

Open day problem? Case closed.
